PSD files for Photoshop

PSD files – is the internal format of graphic files used in the Adobe Photoshop software. This format is very convenient to store intermediate results of the designer's work or when they need to periodically make changes to the project. The essence of this format is that the graphic file is composed from a number of layers that are superimposed on each other and thus create a picture that usually called PSD for Photoshop. The purpose of the layers in Photoshop image is simple - when working with an image made up of layers, we work with many images at once, and they are combined in a single file.


Photoshop layers significantly extend the capabilities of image editing. The main advantages of layers:

• processing of the individual layers without affecting other parts of the image;

• ability to freely move the layers relative to each other;

• usage of elements during processing such as text (configurable using fonts), vector shapes, and special corrective layers;

•effects that can be applied to individual layers with using of Photoshop plug-ins;

• the ability to hide inactive layers, which can then be used to correct the image;

• ability to revert to an earlier version of the image;

• ability to change the image border and temporarily hide a layer's parts under the document's border.
